CDA comes under fire for deforestation

 Members of the Senate Thursday strongly criticised performance of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for continuous deforestation in and around the federal capital.
The senators made these observations during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on the Cabinet and Capital Development and Administration (CAD) held here at the Parliament House. Senior official of the Cabinet division and CAD, CDA Chairman Nadeem Hasan Asif, CDA board members, deputy commissioner Islamabad property and other officials also attended the meeting.
Senator Mushahidullah Khan who hails from the ruling party said the Constitution of Pakistan was being breached through violation of the CDA Act and its regulations. “Housing societies are issued NoC on plain papers and there is nobody to hold those responsible accountable,” he said.
Senator Sughra Imam of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) also observed that the civic body was not functioning according to rules and regulations. She also pointed that the average temperature of property for sale in Islamabad had increased due to continuous cutting of trees.
Senator Najma Hameed of the PML-N said there is dearth of efficient and honest officials in the CDA and that is why officers from Punjab are being deputed in the authority.
The standing committee of the Senate also directed CDA officials to submit report about issues relating to sectors D-12 and E-12 and development work at these two sectors. property for sale in islamabad.
