Residents of capital facing water shortage

ISLAMABAD PROPERTY: The residents of various sectors in the federal capital are facing water shortage for the last few days despite assurance of the CDA of frequent water supply during this summer.
Last year too, a number of families had to shift to their relatives in Rawalpindi as they could not live in their house without water, he added.
Although, the civic body responsible for supply of water to the residents has assured to take effective and concrete measures to cope with the deficiency of water but residents especially in I-10/2 sector complained about less water supply, Ejaz ul Haq, a resident said here on Monday.
With the start of summer, demand of water increases but the residents are supplied water for a few minutes during 24 hours forcing the consumers to look for other alternatives including digging out their own tubewells.
When contacted an official said that taking notice of the rising water complaints in I Series Sectors, the Chairman CDA has already directed the concerned formations to resolve the issue of water supply in the area on priority.
The Chairman has also directed to tally the power outage schedule with the water supply timing to facilitate the residents.
Effective measures are being taken for uninterrupted supply of water from Khanpur and Simly Dam.
He said the concerned department has also been directed for necessary repair maintenance of water tankers, tube-wells and water filtration plants.
